Novel innovation in oat processing and new product development

AEGIC continues to develop novel oat-based food concepts to capture increased food-grade opportunities for oats. Engagement with customers in key Asian markets on the benefits, functionality, and versatility of Australian oats aims to increase the demand for oats and oat products in these markets.

The objective of this project is to create value for all Australian oat growers and will have the most impact in WA, where much of Australian oat production is concentrated.

Completed (as of October 2024)

  • We submitted an annual progress report to the Processed Oat Partnership (POP) steering committee in July 2024. This report outlined new oat food concepts and our market education work via webinars for China, Philippines, Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, and India.

Scheduled (by March 2025)

  • We will continue to gather intelligence on market trends, opportunities, and preferences for oat products.
  • We will continue developing and trialling new innovative oat product concepts using Australian oats, through interaction with export and domestic industry participants.
  • We will develop the next market education webinar series for delivery in the first half of 2025 to communicate the benefits of Australian oat products.
