Benchmarking Australian Wheat

Australian wheat exports often experience intense competition from Black Sea and Argentinian wheat based on price, as well as North American wheat based on functional baking performance. Benchmarking the Australian wheat used in SEA against competitor samples highlights the quality improvements required to enhance Australia’s competitive position.

Wheat quality comparisons include grain physical properties, flour milling performance, flour analysis including dough rheological testing, end-product testing, and blending studies at different ratios.

  • 2024–25 Australian crop samples will be milled and analysed.
  • A summary report will be completed by June 2025.
