Kuwait is a relatively small country in the Persian Gulf, with a land area of about 17,800 square kilometres. The Kuwait economy is almost completely dependent on its energy sector. Kuwait has been a stable buyer of Australian wheat for more than 30 years, importing an average of 350,000 metric tonne (mt) from Australia over the last five years. Kuwait also buys about 150,000mt Australian feed barley per year. The country does not buy in meaningful quantities of Australian canola, lupins or pulses.
