Egypt remains a consistent market for medium protein Australian wheat, importing on average about 580,000 tonnes per annum between 2010-2013. New South Wales and South Australia provided the bulk of this wheat. The Middle Eastern nation is also a significant destination for Australian pulses. About 35,000 tonnes of Australian albus lupin was exported to Egypt during 2014 and 10,000–26,000 tonnes of lentils (mostly chickpeas) were shipped between 2011–2014.
